having had to write my personal statement (again!) for applying to photography courses, i had to write about some of my favourite photographers. one of which being francesca woodman. i first discovered her in my first year of a level photography at college and instantly fell in love.
a part of me can't actually articulate the reason why i love her photographs so much. i think i just have my own way of connecting to her images on a personal level. they feel so dark and because they're all self-portraits of francesca, they feel extremely real and true, like you can see right into her soul. i'm interested in not only her work but her life as well, she seemed like such an interesting person. so talented!
i actually found some of my photography work that was inspired a lot by her work. They're not half as good as her work and I'd like to think I've grown more as a photographer since then, but here some are for your own amusement!

So crazy! The first part of my photography portfolio was all Francesca Woodman! I adore her work and saw it at the MoMa here so I did a piece on her! p.s your photos are lovely x
